Two Saratoga players, 6-foot-2 junior Bo Nielsen and 5-foot-5 senior playmaker Ryan Matsuura, have been named to the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League's all-El Camino first team by division coaches.
Nielsen, who averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds a game during the Falcons' 17-10 season, had an El Camino high of 290 rebounds. His 374 points ranked only behind division Most Valuable Player Brian Ngo of Santa Clara and Cupertino forward David Warren, a pair of seniors. Nielson also ranked second in three-point field goals (43) and third in assists (85) and steals (64). Matsuura, whose 11.4 points ranked second on his team, was the division assists leader with 185. He also was second in steals (75).
The Saratoga duo was joined on the eight-man first team by Warren, Ehson Mortezaie and Ryan Matsuoka of league champion Cupertino, Ngo and Kyle High of Santa Clara, and 5-foot-8 Monta Vista junior Marcus Woo. Saratoga senior Kia Agadehl, who averaged 11.3 points a game, made the second team along with high-scoring Lynbrook junior Kris Gingrich and Cupertino senior Jeremy Brinkerhoff. The honorable mention list included Saratoga senior Scott Newberry, Cupertino senior Matt McCormick and Monta Vista junior Eric Sum.
El Camino girls
Lynbrook's Laura Crisler, whose 102 three-point baskets accounted for the fourth highest total among California girls this season, was named El Camino Senior of the Year by division coaches.
Crisler, who scored in double figures in 25 of 28 games this season, totaled 445 points in 28 games, a 15.9 per-game average, and second in the division only to Monta Vista's Sophia Tam (16.8), the Junior of the Year. Both are part of the 11-member all-El Camino first team, and so are Monta Vista junior Kaila Li , Saratoga freshman Alex Sclavos and Lynbrook's Diana Lee, the Freshman of the Year.
The 10-member second team includes Lynbrook junior Emily Shen, the division's top rebounder (10.2 per game), and Saratoga senior Mika Lewis and Katie Reed.
