'Poet of guitar' will close out the community concert series

She's called "a poet of the guitar."

The Los Gatos Community Concert Association is closing out the 2005-06 season with a performance by renowned classical guitarist Karin Schaupp of Australia on April 9.

Schaupp is widely considered one of the outstanding guitarists on the international scene. She is said to have won over audiences around the globe with her charming stage presence and passionate playing.

Her repertoire includes music from classic, traditional Europe all the way to modern-day Australia, and her performance history includes television, radio and a string of award-winning recordings.

To sweeten the pot, her performance will be the first LGCCA concert to be held at the renovated Los Gatos High School theater. For the local nonprofit group, it's a great ending to a great season.

The Los Gatos Community Concert Association presents Karin Schaupp on April 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the new Los Gatos High School theater, 20 High School Court.
