Sheriff's Report
Vehicle Tampering--Sometime between 3:50 p.m. on April 15 and noon on April 16 on Surrey Lane. Someone tried unsuccessfully to remove the rims and tires from a vehicle parked in a residential driveway.
Automobile Burglary--On April 15 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. on Titus Avenue. Someone stole a purse from a vehicle after breaking one of the vehicle's windows.
Speed Contest--On April 14 at 6:40 p.m. on Prospect Road and Lawrence Expressway. An officer pulled over one of two Ford Mustangs that were racing on Lawrence Expressway. The second driver did not stop. The driver of the first Mustang was cited and released. The second driver was later booked into the main jail.
Probation Violation--On April 14 at 2:29 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue and Fruitvale Avenue. An officer stopped a person who was riding a bicycle. The person was wearing gloves and was in possession of a screwdriver, a flashlight and a ski mask. The person was on probation for burglary and drug charges. The officer booked the person into the main jail.
Theft--On April 13 between 1 and 2:30 p.m. on Mellowood Drive. Two letters were stolen from a mailbox.
Registration Fraud--On April 11 at 1:30 a.m. on Lawrence Expressway and Prospect Road. An officer stopped a Jeep with a license plate registered to a Mazda. The driver admitted that he had taken the plate from his girlfriend's vehicle because his vehicle was unregistered. The driver was also violating restrictions placed on his driver's license.
Littering--Sometime between 7 a.m. on April 10 and 5 p.m. on April 15 on Howen Drive. Toilet paper was strewn on trees, bushes, vehicles and a house. Eggs were thrown at the house and chocolate syrup was squirted on one of the windows.
Theft--On April 10 at 10:40 p.m. on Manor Drive. An unknown person took a bag of merchandise and a black camera case containing medication and CDs from an unlocked vehicle parked in a residential driveway. The person then attempted to break into another vehicle parked on the street but drove off after triggering the car alarm.
Check forgery--Sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 5 p.m. on April 8 on Loma Rio Drive. An unknown person cashed a check in another person's name for $1,849.
