Chocolate will be flowing at Saratoga's Mountain Winery

By Jennifer McBride

Saratoga's Mountain Winery will be transformed into a mountain paradise this weekend, complete with flowing rivers of chocolate. It's all in the name of charity as EHC LifeBuilders kicks off its 10th annual Rivers of Chocolate benefit from 1 to 5 p.m. on April 30.

Like a scene out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, some of the area's finest chocolatiers will serve treats fit for a king and queen. Local chefs will do cooking demonstrations, and there will be decadent selections as far as the eye can see. Pete De Vries will lead an auction full of prizes, such as a night of poker with Phil Gordon, host of Celebrity Poker Showdown, and dinner with Gene Burns, host of KGO's Dining Around with Gene Burns. Set against picturesque views atop the Saratoga hills, the winery will surely help guests feel as if they are in paradise as they sip wine and listen to live big band music throughout the afternoon.

Proceeds from the event will go to EHC LifeBuilders' Youth Division, which offers programs and services for at-risk youth, including two shelters for youth in crisis, counseling, life skills education for youth anticipating discharge from foster care at age 18, a drop-in center and outreach services for homeless and runaway youth, transitional living, truancy abatement and education mentoring.

Tickets for Rivers of Chocolate are $100 and include all food and drink.

For tickets and more information, call the Youth Division of EHC LifeBuilders at 408.539.2121 or visit www.riversofchocolate.org.

The Mountain Winery is at 14831 Pierce Road in Saratoga.
