Julia M. Zambetti

Julia Marie Zambetti of Saratoga died May 9 at age 95.

Zambetti was born in 1911 in Pelham, N.Y. She and her husband, Peter Paul Zambetti, moved to Santa Clara in 1939. Together, they owned and operated Glen and Ritz Cleaners in Willow Glen from 1946 to 1953, as well as Hillview Cleaners in Saratoga from 1953 to 1983.

Zambetti and her husband were charter members of the Saratoga Rotary Club and the Young Ladies Institute No. 197, and were members of the Italian Catholic Federation Branch No. 5 in Santa Clara. Zambetti's passions included cooking, gardening and caring for their home.

Her husband of 48 years, Peter Zambetti, died in 1983. She is survived by her sons, Peter N. Zambetti of Portland and Eugene L. Zambetti of Saratoga; grandchildren, Toby, Jeffery, Julie, Anthony and Vincent Zambetti and Candy and Mimi Le; great-grandchildren, Heidi, Kimberly, Breanna, Brian, Rita, Michael and Kennon Zambetti; and her sister-in-law, Marino Zambetti of Italy.

Services were held May 13 in Saratoga. Donations in her name may be made to the Saratoga Rotary Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 96, Saratoga, CA 95071.

Jeanne A. Behnke

Jeanne Audrey Behnke, 87, formerly of Los Gatos, died April 21.

Behnke was born in Gorda, Monterey County, to rancher Jasper Abraham Mansfield and Fannie Harriet Plaskett, and was raised in nearby King City.

As a young woman, Behnke moved to San Jose to attend Heald Business College. While working at Sears, Roebuck and Co., she met and married Chalmer Wilson Behnke and moved to Los Gatos, where she was a homemaker throughout the 1940s and '50's. She raised her four children in Los Gatos schools and attended Los Gatos Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Cambrian Golf Club. In their retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren in their second home in Capitola, and traveling in their motor home.

Behnke is survived by her daughter, Deborah Jeanne Atwood of Scotts Valley; her sons, Ken and Byron Behnke of Anderson and Don Behnke of San Jose; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Chalmer Behnke, and her siblings, Emil Mansfield, Elton Mansfield, Byron Mansfield and Alta Mansfield Bronzich, all of King City, and Lythia Mansfield Slyngstad of San Jose, all died previously.
