Top netters in town for Saratoga Jr. Tennis Open

By Dick Sparrer

The tennis courts at the Saratoga Country Club are generally pretty crowded. But they'll be overflowing with outstanding young players on June 26-30 when the club hosts the fourth annual Saratoga Junior Tennis Open.

More than 300 of the best junior players in Northern California will converge on the courts for five days of tennis. There will be so many players, in fact, that it will take 35 courts to complete the tournament. Along with the Country Club courts, matches will be played at Saratoga, Lynbrook and Monta Vista high schools and at De Anza College.

"This tournament is the highlight of the junior tennis season here and in the South Bay," said Chuck Fowler, tennis pro at the Saratoga Country Club, in a press release. "The club is in great shape and looking forward to the event."

Players will compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles play in five different age groups. The finals in each division are set for June 30 at the Country Club, 21990 Prospect Road.
