Dorothy M. Steele
Dorothy Marie Steele, 76, formerly of Saratoga, died June 28.
Steele was born and raised in Biddeford, Maine. She worked as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines in the 1950s, before leaving the business to raise a family in 1957. She lived in Saratoga for 35 years, where she worked as a travel agent and owned an import business specializing in items from the Far East. A lover of travel, Steele took friends with her on many trips to Asia and Europe.
Steele is survived by her daughters, Susan DeLeuw and Karen Boncher; her sons-in-law, Dan DeLeuw and John Boncher; her grandchildren, Jack and Lucy Boncher; and her step-grandchildren, Katie and Matt DeLeuw.
Private services have been held. Donations may be made in her memory to The Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Dorothy L. Gertz
Dorothy Louise Gertz of Saratoga, 89, died June 8.
Gertz lived in Saratoga for 42 years and was the founder of Oak Creek Interiors. She enjoyed her home and her family, and was an active troop and district leader for the Girl Scouts. She also taught art.
Gertz is survived by her daughters, Diana and husband, Terry Treadwell of Saratoga; Gwen and husband, John Callan of Danville; Vicki and husband, Tom Marion of San Diego; grandchildren, Geoffrey and wife, Didem Treadwell; Elizabeth and husband, Dan Hoskins; Stephanie and husband, Steve Murphy; and her great-grandchildren, Callan, Campbell and Caroline Hoskins and Ben Murphy, who will soon be a big brother. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Hall, and her former husband, George Gertz.
Memorial services were held June 13 at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga.
