of Proposition 89
There is one proposition on the November ballot that crosses all party lines. It's Proposition 89, the Clean Money Initiative for public financing of campaigns. Time has come for ordinary Californians to stand up against the corruption of our election process caused by big-money campaign donations. I think everyone agrees our politicians are too beholden to the special interests that help them win elections.
Now voters have a chance to bring real democracy back through the voluntary system of public campaign financing laid out by Proposition 89. Arizona and Maine have had great positive changes in the makeup of their legislatures as a result of clean money election reform. The result is a new crop of grassroots lawmakers who hand out less pork and fewer corporate tax credits giveaways, thus saving the state budgets many times the small initial cost of the system.
I urge your readers to learn more about this ballot proposition. Leave your old party mindset behind, and vote "yes" on Proposition 89 for the benefit of all of us.
