KSAR will record the
memories of the 50th
I read with great interest the front-page article "Saratoga's 50th gives residents a 'golden' excuse for a celebration" (Aug. 23) written by Shannon Burkey. I would like to add the contribution that we at KSAR15 will be making to this great community event.
KSAR will be taping for later viewing on our community-access TV station (channel 15) many of Saratoga's 50th anniversary celebration events, including the parade and the Saratoga street dance. KSAR is also producing a DVD of highlights of the 50th anniversary celebrations that will be available for purchase at local businesses and directly from KSAR. We will also tape the first night football game at Saratoga High School for later viewing on our station.
KSAR has long provided the residents of Saratoga with live broadcasts of city council meetings, planning commission meetings, local events such as the Saratoga Rotary Art Show, July 4th at Azule Park and programming by local residents.
Our board of directors, your neighbors in Saratoga, are broadening programming, expanding our intern program for youths interested in video or TV careers and providing a great place for the voice of the community to be heard.
Watch for our cameras as we record the memories and broadcast them on your community access TV station. You won't miss a memory.

Pierce Road antics
are childish
Hopefully the folks ranting about the speed lumps on Pierce Road will read some of their own letters and recognize how embarrassing they are. We Saratogans are supposedly highly educated and at the top of the economic spectrum. How does that jibe with annoying sleeping homeowners by honking our horns in the middle of the night while crossing the speed lumps and flipping off residents standing in their Pierce Road front yards? This is the behavior of an ill-tempered 6-year-old, not a responsible adult. Turning something as trivial as a speed lump into a religious jihad does not give us high marks for maturity.
Speeders on Pierce Road are a longtime serious safety issue. Removing the speed lumps and spending an additional $300,000 a year or so for increased police patrols on Pierce Road does not make much economic sense. Why is it so difficult for motorists to drive at the 30-mph speed that is consistent with the speed lumps? The driver of the small SUV so unstable he must slow to 7 mph for the speed lumps has a serious suspension problem that needs immediate attention. He is putting himself and others at risk by driving it on any highway.
