Sheriff's Report

Petty theft-- Aug. 18-19 from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Springbrook Court at Sobey Road. An unknown person entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the street and stole an amplifier and subwoofer that were inside.

Burglary--On Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Cuvilly Court. An unknown person entered a construction site by cutting a locked chain from the perimeter of a fence. The person then cut a locked chain from a wooden storage shed and stole all of the tools from the inside.

Vandalism--Between Aug. 17 and Aug. 18 from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Fontaine Drive. Three vehicles and one structure had their windows broken. The total damage was estimated at $3,600.

Concealed weapon--On Aug. 18 at 1:41 a.m. on Lawrence Expressway at Saratoga Avenue. An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle. The officer then noticed a cup containing an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle. The officer searched the car and found a loaded .357 revolver. The driver fled on foot and was not found; the vehicle was impounded.

Petty theft--On Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. on Saratoga Avenue. A person stole an Apple iPod from an unattended backpack sitting in the library.

Petty theft--On Aug. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Cox Avenue. A person stole a woman's purse from her place of employment. The purse contained a cell phone, iPod, car adapter and a wallet containing cash and credit cards.
