Warren F. Nelson
Warren F. Nelson of Saratoga, 84, died July 30.
Nelson was a resident of Saratoga for 43 years. He retired as an officer of the U.S. Navy in 1963, having served since 1941. He then went to work for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space from 1963 to 1988 in the missile support division as a logistics supervisor for the Polaris missile project.
Nelson was one of the first members of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church, where he organized a dinner for the homeless in which local restaurants donated food.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Nelson; his son, Warren, and his wife, Lillian Nelson of Irvine; his daughter, Gail Robinson of Oakland; his daughter Jennifer and her husband, John McDonald of Acton, Mass.; his grandchildren, Chloe Rawlins of Walnut Creek, Tess and Leah Nelson of Irvine, Taylor Robinson of San Diego, Parker Robinson of Austin, Texas, and Miles, Paige and Annalise McDonald of Acton; and his sisters, Janice Samoline, Val Richards and Thelma Westerberg.
Services were held in Saratoga on Aug. 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in support of Matt Meyer's Ministry with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Checks may be written to the Saratoga Presbyterian Church, 20455 Herriman Ave., Saratoga, CA 95070, with a memo, Warren Nelson Memorial Fund-Intervarsity.
