Arnold Henderson

Dr. Arnold Henderson of Saratoga, 74, died Aug. 28 of a heart attack.

Henderson was born in Missouri. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a dental technician during the Korean War, and was stationed in Montgomery, Ala., and Tacoma, Wash. After completing his military service, he attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, earning a bachelor's degree in physics, before enrolling at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry.

After completing his dental residency in Seattle, Henderson relocated to California. He established his practice in Cupertino in 1962 and moved to Saratoga the following year. After 39 years running his private practice, he retired in 2001.

Henderson and his wife, Mary, traveled all over the globe, visiting nearly every country. An avid gardener, he enjoyed sharing homegrown vegetables with family and friends. He also enjoyed bargain hunting, often going from store to store to find deals on various products. He delighted in telling friends about his savings.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Henderson of Saratoga; his sons Doug and his wife, Marilyne Henderson of Mequon, Wis.; Don Henderson of Saratoga; Devin Henderson of Ben Lomond; and Dana and his wife, Erin-Leigh Henderson of Los Gatos; and his grandchildren, Cynthia and Eric Henderson of Mequon, Wis. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
