Sheriff's Report

Petty theft--Between Sept. 23 at 9:15 p.m. and Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. on Ravenwood Drive. Two green frog displays were stolen from the front of a residence. The owner of the residence saw the displays when he went into his house in the evening, and in the morning they were gone.

Vandalism--On Sept. 22 between noon and 5:45 p.m. on Fourth Street. A person jumped on the trunk of a vehicle, denting it and causing $4,000 worth of damage. The person was cited and released to his mother.

Vandalism--On Sept. 22 between 8:10 and 10:10 a.m. on Prospect Road. An unknown person used a sharp, pointed object to puncture the tires of a Prospect High School student's car while it was parked in the school parking lot.

Assault and battery--On Sept. 18 at 8:10 a.m. on Prospect Road. A student pushed another student's head into a metal locker at Prospect High School. The student who initiated the fight was suspended from school.

Possession of a knife--On Sept. 19 between 9 and 9:30 a.m. on Prospect Road. At Prospect High School, a student was sent to the principal's office for trying to skip school. While in the office, a knife was discovered in his front left pocket. The student was cited for possession of a knife and released to his mother.

Possession of a loaded firearm--On Sept. 19 at 7:50 a.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and Fruitvale Avenue. A driver with a suspended license was stopped by an officer for running a red light. When the officer conducted a search of the vehicle, he found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, a loaded .30 caliber handgun, an unloaded SKS AK-47 and unloaded .22 caliber rifle, and a bag of methamphetamine. The person was booked into main jail, and his vehicle was towed.

Petty theft--On Sept. 20 at 2:45 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and Blauer. A person entered a store and pushed an empty shopping cart to the liquor aisle. The person then placed a bottle in the cart and pushed it out of the store without paying. The person was stopped by store security and was cited and released.

Construction without a permit--On Sept. 19 at 5:10 p.m. on Mt. Eden Road. A homeowner had three day laborers demolishing an outbuilding on his property without a permit. The person stated he had blueprints approved by the city of Saratoga for the removal of the building. He also stated the building was in a state of disrepair and it was an emergency requiring the building be demolished. The case was referred to the city attorney for review.
