Camille Skov
Camille Emery Burleigh Skov of Saratoga, 88, died Oct. 24.
Skov was born and raised in Belmont, Mass. She earned her degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and started her own engineering company. Later, she worked for General Electric, first in the jet engine group as a director of advanced engine tests, then as a principal engineer in the nuclear division.
Skov made her home in Saratoga for 26 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Camilla Burleigh Skov and Andrea Riis Skov; and her grandson, Riis MacKay Thompson. Services were held Nov. 2 at St. Andrew's Church in Saratoga.
Alfred Wigger
Alfred George Wigger of Cupertino, 82, died Nov. 17.
Wigger was born in 1924 in San Francisco and grew up in Redwood City. He was the only son of Alfred and Lucille Wigger and attended Sequoia High School. During World War II, he joined the Navy and served on the USS San Saba, stationed in the Pacific. He later went on to college at San José State University and majored in business education.
Wigger devoted most of his professional life to teaching. Wigger married Catherine Bugge in 1955, and the two of them taught in a one-room schoolhouse in New Idria, Calif. Wigger also taught in Cupertino, and from 1963 to 1987 he taught science at Redwood Middle School in Saratoga.
When he retired from the Saratoga Union School District, Wigger traveled throughout the world. He joined the Peace Corps and taught science in Nepal.
Wigger volunteered with the Master Gardeners and Master Composters of Santa Clara County. He ran a weekly information booth at the Cupertino Farmers Market and brought produce from the market to the Cupertino Community Center, where the food would later be given to those in need. Wigger was active in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Sunnyvale, the South Bay Storytellers, the Silicon Valley Sharks Cribbage Club and the El Camino Hospital Cancer Support Group. Wigger also celebrated 33 years of sobriety.
Wigger is survived by his son, David, and daughter, Amy. A celebration of Wigger's life will be held on Dec. 1 at Redwood Middle School, 13925 Fruitvale Ave. The memorial service begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a potluck dinner and reminiscing at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley, the local chapter of the Sierra Club, the World Wildlife Organization or any other charity.
