Remember the troops
this holiday season

December is a great time of year to remember our troops overseas, and especially those in Iraq. A good way to help them celebrate the holidays is to send a flat rate box to a soldier, sailor or marine. You can check out the website anysoldier.com to get names and addresses and specific requests from some of the soldiers. Many are young people, many are mothers and fathers who miss their country and family very much at this time of the year.

The flat rate box can be filled with holiday-related things and regardless of weight it only costs the flat box rate. Our family always adds a note of appreciation for their commitment and for the service they are performing for our country. This is a wonderful way to support our troops and let them know we care.

Saratogan says,
'Merry Christmas'

Like it or not, this "Happy Holidays" season has been brought to you by Christmas, a holiday celebrated by Christians. I am becoming increasingly sensitive to the fact that this is being swept under the rug. This is a season that many reap the benefits from--the rich and the poor, the young and the old, the hungry, the homeless and the downtrodden, and, of course, the businesses and the merchants. And I wouldn't want it any other way. So, I am not going to hide my light under the proverbial basket. From my heart and soul, "Merry Christmas."
