Urging letter writer
to leave schools alone
I feel I must respond to Wesley Ferguson's recent diatribes ("District should protect students from teachers," April 10; "Schools produce 'informed graduates,' "May 1) regarding teachers "indoctrinating" Saratoga High School students.
I considered answering his first letter, but Mr. Lorton beat me to it with a better letter ("No need to worry about dangers facing students," April 27) than I could have written. However, I would suggest that Mr. Ferguson check his Webster's (or other) dictionary, for the definitions of both "conservative" and "liberal"--l am sure he would find he fits neither definition, but is better described as a "reactionary," i.e. "one who seeks to undo political progress."
Please, Mr. Ferguson, keep your fingers off our school; leave our teachers in peace, to teach (or "indoctrinate") our students in California's state-required curriculum! Religion and religious theories (e.g., "intelligent design/creationism," etc.) can be taught at home or church if you wish, but not in our public and religion-free (not Islamic, Christian, Buddhist, nor any other sect) schools.

Cutler's lawsuit
was mean-spirited
It is with great sadness that we read in your paper of the case of Los Gatos Camera vs. [Mitch] Cutler ("Cutler wins his lawsuit against LG Camera, but can't collect," May 1). If anyone in this scenario is hateful and mean-spirited, it is Mr. Cutler. For him to bring a lawsuit against this store because they refused to print some pictures, for whatever reason, was a total overreaction. He could simply have taken his business elsewhere.
The Mustons were more than friendly and kind to us and to many others, and we shall very much miss them and their wonderful store and service.
