Relay for life organizers looking for torchbearer

Saratoga's Relay for Life, an overnight community event to raise money for and awareness of cancer and celebrate survivors, is now accepting applications for its torchbearer.
The torchbearer, a cancer survivor who would like to deliver a message of hope to other survivors, will light the candles of all other survivors during the luminaria ceremony. To apply, send an e-mail to Marilyn Marchetti at marilyn.marchetti@comcast.net explaining why you wold like to serve as torchbearer.
Relay for Life will begin with an opening ceremony and survivor's lap on June 23 at 10 a.m. at Redwood Middle School and will last until June 24 at 10 a.m.
A barbecue will take place on June 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. A hamburger or chicken dinner is $15 and hot dog dinners are $6. All profits go to the American Cancer Society. Tickets for the barbecue must be purchased in advance and can be purchased from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays at the Chamber of Commerce office at 14485 Big Basin Way.
