Residents should
pick up after pets

Fellow Saratogans, please pick up and dispose of your dog's droppings. More of these unsightly piles are being left on our beautiful Village's sidewalks just waiting for an errant shoe.

Even if you're physically or age challenged, or a master of the universe who disdains rules and common courtesies, unless personally beneficial, or a teenager too cool to bend, your responsibility is to clear away your pet's leavings.

I suppose if the practice gets bad (i.e., foul) enough, the city council may have to jump into the mess!

School year near, but
Herriman not marked

In May I wrote a letter to the editor regarding the condition of Herriman Avenue as a safety hazard to our kids walking to and from Redwood Middle School and the high school. When I wrote the paper, there were no bike lanes on Herriman and drivers were either using the wrong lane going north, a large shoulder or cutting the inside of the circle over the bridge on the much smaller area going southbound. All I suggested is that the bike lanes on each side be suitably marked to keep drivers out of the area where kids and others walk.

The Saratoga News ran a very good article following up on my complaint (and the complaint of most drivers coming off of Jerries Drive). So what has been done? I can't say nothing. They did put down the preliminary half-inch wide line marking the location for the painting of the line. And that is it.

The kids will be back in school soon and our crisis will happen once again, and we can only hope and pray none of our kids get hurt.

Please, someone do something!
