Police Blotter
Auto burglary--Between Dec. 14 at 9:45 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 8:30 a.m. on Palmtag Drive. An unknown person smashed out the rear passenger's side window with an unknown object. The person then reached through the window and removed a Hewlett-Packard laptop along with textbooks and a gift card. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $2,910. There were no latent prints available and no witnesses.
Minor in possession of alcohol--On Dec. 14 at 9:30 p.m. on Herriman Avenue. An assistant principal chaperoning a school dance noticed a student drinking from a Vitaminwater bottle. The assistant principal found the liquid inside the bottle to be an alcoholic beverage. The student was cited and released to the custody of his father.
Auto burglary--Between Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 11:15 a.m. on Woodside Drive. An unknown person smashed out the passenger side window of a man's locked car parked in his driveway. The person then leaned through the shattered window and stole a laptop and a Global Positioning System. The stolen items are valued at approximately $1,400. There were no witnesses.
Battery on school grounds--On Dec. 14 at 8:10 a.m. on Prospect Road. A student assaulted another student and threatened a school official. The student was cited and released to his guardian. The assaulted student did not suffer any injuries.
Burglary--Between Dec. 14 at 7:45 a.m. and Dec. 15 at 8 a.m. on Shadow Mountain Drive. An unknown person entered the unlocked classroom where a woman teaches the third grade. The person removed a wallet from a purse sitting on the desk and fled in an unknown direction. There were no witnesses and latent prints were not available.
Auto burglary--Between Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m. and Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. on Sage Court. An unknown person smashed out the passenger side window of a man's locked car parked in his driveway. The person removed a digital camera that was sitting on the passenger seat. The camera is valued at approximately $600.
Armed robbery--On Dec. 12 at 8:33 p.m. on Saratoga Avenue. Three unknown persons dressed in dark hooded sweatshirts conspired to commit armed robbery by entering a gas station and stealing $335 from the cashier. One of the persons pulled a small black handgun from his waist and pointed it at the cashier. Two additional robberies occurred in the same geographic region within the same time frame. Police were able to retrieve video surveillance from the gas station. There is no further information.
Possession of marijuana--On Dec. 12 at 2:47 p.m. on Fourth Street and Springer Avenue. During a traffic stop, police found the driver to be in possession of 36.2 grams of marijuana and prescription medication belonging to someone else. The driver was cited and released at the scene.
Found missing person--On Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. on Herriman Avenue. A missing juvenile was found and turned over to a children's shelter.
Attempted burglary--On Dec. 12 at 2:40 a.m. on Burgundy Way. An unknown person removed two screens from windows at a residence and attempted to enter through a window in the garage. The alarm and homeowner interrupted the unknown person, who fled. The homeowner was able to provide a detailed description of the person, who is still at large. There were no items taken from the residence.
Bank robbery--On Dec. 11 at 4:01 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. A bank robber wearing a ski mask wielded a gun at tellers, demanding money. The robber, who got away with $6,900 and fled in a green sedan, is still at large.
Recovered license plate--On Dec. 11 at 12:40 a.m. on Big Basin Way. During a patrol check of a business, an officer found a lost or stolen license plate on a parked vehicle behind the business. The vehicle associated with the license plate had already been recovered and removed from the stolen vehicle system. The registered owner was unaware he had a stolen license plate on his vehicle. The officer removed the license plate, and it was booked at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, West Valley Division.
Grand theft--On Dec. 10 between midnight and 8 a.m. on Quito Road and Martha Avenue. A man had a Jeep parked for sale near the intersection. During the night, an unknown person took all four tires and rims off the Jeep but did not enter the vehicle. The estimated value of the tires and rims is approximately $1,200. The unknown person is still at large.
Found property--Between Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 11 at 11:30 a.m. on Orchard Road. After holding a bicycle he had found in front of his residence, a man turned it in as found property to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, West Valley Division. The man kept the bicycle for a few days in case the owner returned for it.
Mail theft--Between Nov. 23 at 9 a.m. and Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. on Afton Avenue. An unknown person stole two packages that were left on the doorstep of a woman's residence. The woman was expecting the packages, which were gifts, on two separate days: Nov. 23 and Dec. 3. The contents of the packages are worth approximately $300.
Auto burglary--On Nov. 21 between midnight and 7 a.m. on Palmtag Drive. An unknown person opened an unlocked rear hatch door of a man's car parked in his driveway. The person took a DVD player, movies and video games before fleeing in an unknown direction. The stolen items are valued at approximately $790. There were no witnesses.
Acquired account information--Between Oct. 8 at midnight and Oct. 29 at midnight on Devon Avenue. A man received an e-mail from a Chicago-based financial corporation that manages his retirement account. The e-mails were to inform him that his e-mail address and home phone number had been updated on his personal account profile. The man did not request any changes and found out that an unknown person is in possession of his account. No fraudulent charges were made, and the passwords on the account have been changed.
Identity theft--Between March 17 at noon and Dec. 14 at 1:50 p.m. on Orella Court. An unknown person opened a Chase Bank car loan for $33,553 under a woman's name. The woman put a fraud alert on her account, which revealed a number of unauthorized charges in addition to the car loan. The unknown person is still at large.
