Marshall Gibbs-Obituary

Former Saratoga resident Marshall Gibbs died on Dec. 4. He was 84.

Mr. Gibbs was born on Aug. 8, 1923, in Alhambra, Calif. He graduated from the USC School of Engineering and served as the youngest U.S. Navy commanding officer in World War II.

He was a founder of the Northern California Porsche Club and lived and raised all his children in Saratoga before moving to Newport. He was president of the USC Northern California alumni association for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Irene Woods Gibbs; his sister, Juliann Smith; his daughters Dianne Walker and Marilyn Gibbs; his son Dana Gibbs and his wife Stacie; his grandchildren Morgan, Connor and Paris Gibbs, Deena Mansfield, Matt Walker and Marilyn Kersh; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services have been held. Donations to the MS Society (800.344.4967) are preferred in lieu of flowers.
