Possession of marijuana--On Dec. 29 at 12:12 a.m. at Prospect Road and Lawrence Expressway. During a vehicle enforcement stop, an officer found a glass vial containing a green powder known as "kief." The officer also found marijuana in a clear plastic bag. Both substances were less than an ounce. The driver was issued a citation and released at the scene.
Fraudulent registration--On Dec. 28 at 5:50 p.m. at Quito and Bucknall roads. An officer issued a vehicle enforcement stop for a license plate light out and found that the driver had fraudulent registration tabs on the rear license plate. The driver was also driving without a valid driver's license. The rear plate was seized as evidence and the driver was issued a citation and released.
Grand theft--Between Dec. 28 at 11:30 p.m. and Dec. 29 at 12:40 a.m. on Purdue Drive. An unknown person stole a laptop computer, computer bag and mail from a man's unlocked vehicle. The value of the stolen property is estimated at more than $2,500. The thief is still at large.
Missing adult--On Dec. 28 between 12:45 and 1:45 p.m. on Saratoga Avenue. A man was supposed to go to a woman's house, but he never arrived. The woman believes the man is lost, since he has been lost before but was never reported as missing. The man has high blood pressure and Alzheimer's disease.
Vandalism--Between Dec. 27 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 28 at 7:30 a.m. on Mendelsohn Lane. An unknown person maliciously damaged a man's mailbox and dumped trash in his yard. The man, who was out of the country at the time of the incident, had his mailbox vandalized before on Nov.. 22. The cost to repair the mailbox and post is unknown.
Attempted burglary--On Dec. 27 at 12:10 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. There was an attempted burglary of a UPS storage trailer behind a grocery store. Two white males drove up to the storage trailer and tried to pry open the lock to the pull-up door. The men were seen committing the act and fled in a white sport utility vehicle. No arrests were made, and the two men are still at large.
Petty theft--Between Dec. 26 at 5 p.m. and Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. on Arroyo de Arguello. An unknown person took a mailbox without the owner's permission. Later, a mailbox was used to vandalize a property at another location, but officers are unsure if the crimes are connected. The value of the mailbox is approximately $200.
