Chamber installs new president

Cole Bridges of Town and Country Village was installed as the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce president, succeeding K.J. Page. Page will remain on the board as past president. Board members Liz Gallegos of Northwest YMCA, Larry Stone of Larry Stone Partners and Ron Swegles of Willow Ranch had their terms extended.

New members Ray Montalvo of Le Boulanger and Pat Castillo of Castillo and Castillo Landscaping will also serve on the board.

No garbage pickup on New Year's Day

Garbage and recycling collection will not be offered on Jan. 1, but extra curbside service will be offered to Sunnyvale residents Jan. 2-17. Christmas trees will be recycled, but city officials recommend removing nails and decorations and cutting trunks down to four feet or less for easy disposal.

Sandbags available

The Santa Clara Valley Water District will distribute free sandbags during storm related emergencies. Water district crews will also be available Residents should contact the water district if any flooding problems occur, at 299-2711. Scholarships at De Anza College

Scholarships worth more than $110,000 in all will be awarded to De Anza College students during the 1996-97 year. Forms are now available at the Financial Aid Office, and must be returned by Feb. 14.
