    Mary Albertson's store to close

Albertson's has announced plans to close its Sunnyvale food store at 3156 S. Mary Ave., effective Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. Earlier last year Albertson's announced it would be conducting thorough sales and earnings reviews and anticipated closing approximately 165 stores. The decision to close the store was made after the company exhausted its efforts to improve the store's performance.

Albertson's executives say they are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. The company said in a recent release that it's making efforts to place associates in other stores in the area. The company will work with the city to market the property for uses compatible with each neighborhood.
