It may be the dead of winter, but it's already time to start thinking about baseball--and for youngsters to start thinking about signing up for the 1996 District 44 Little League baseball season.
The Sunnyvale Metro, National, Serra and Southern Little Leagues will hold signups in January at various locations.
Sunnyvale Metro Little League
Signups will be held Jan.7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and Jan. 16, 7-9 p.m., at Ponderosa Park, 811 Henderson Ave.; Jan. 9, 7-9 p.m., and Jan. 20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Raynor Park Rec Building, 1565 Quail Ave.; and Jan. 13, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Ortega Park Rec Building, 656 Harrow Way. Sunnyvale National Little League
Signups will be held Jan. 6, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and Jan. 10, 5-8 p.m., at Washington Park, and Jan. 13, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Fairoaks Recreation Center. For more information, call Kyle Eaton at 746-0446.
Sunnyvale Serra Little League
Signups will be held
Jan. 6, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Jan. 7, noon-4 p.m., and Jan. 10, 6-9 p.m., at the Serra Park Recreation Building, 730 The Dalles. For more information, call Joe McKone at 737-7207.
Sunnyvale Southern Little League
Signups will be held Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day, and Jan. 10 and 16, 7-9 p.m., at the Las Palmas Park Recreation Building, 858 Russett Drive. For more information, call Mike Kelley at 738-4348 or Dave Severns at 730-8609.
District 44 also features a Challenger Division for physically and mentally disabled youngsters, ages 7-17. Play is from March to June. Call at 733-2694.
