The following incidents were culled from reports filed by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
DUI--Dec. 27, 4:43 a.m. Police tried to stop a man suspected of driving under the influence after he made an illegal U-turn on Mathilda Avenue near Lockheed. Officers tried to pull the man over, but he sped away and went north on Highway 101. The driver hit speeds of more than 80 mph, and CHP and Sunnyvale Public Safety officers pursued him through the cities of Mountain View, Cupertino, Campbell, San Jose, Saratoga and Los Gatos. The driver finally came to a stop when his front tire blew out after hitting a curb. He then crashed into a parked car on Rebecca Drive in San Jose, suffering minor facial cuts and a broken nose. No others were injured. He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, as well as violating his parole.
Commercial burglary--Dec. 28, 3:45 p.m. A man was arrested on the 1200 block of Anvilwood Avenue on charges of possession of stolen property, commercial burglary, possession of illegal weapons, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. He is being held at Elmwood jail.
Robbery--Dec. 29, 11:54 p.m. A man charged with four counts of robbery and one count of resisting arrest was taken to Santa Clara County Main Jail after being arrested on the 100 block of E. El Camino Real. He is being held on $55,000 bail.
Petty Theft--Dec. 30, 9 a.m. A man was cited and released for stealing merchandise from a store on the 600 block of Kifer Road.
Gang enhancement--Dec. 31, 6:15 p.m. A man was arrested on the 100 block of E. Eaglewood Avenue on three felony counts: possession of a deadly weapon, conspiracy and gang enhancement. He was arrested and taken to Elmwood jail, where he was released on $20,000 bail.
Vandalism--Jan. 1, 2:20 a.m. A woman was brought into the public safety department by acquaintances who said the woman keyed their car after getting into an argument at a house on the 160 block of N. Taffe Street. The three had met at a bar and had been drinking, and then went to the victim's house. After an argument ensued, the woman was locked out of the house and did damage to the car. She was cited at the station and was released to her mother.
