It was quite a fall season for the athletes of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League--and not just on the athletic fields and courts.
The athletes of the SCVAL also did quite well in the classroom in the fall of 1996.
Lynbrook, Fremont and Homestead were among the SCVAL schools with teams finishing among the leaders in the Central Coast Section Fall Scholastic championships.
The Lynbrook girls' volleyball team topped the list of local finishers. The Vikings finished first in the scholastic competition in their sport with an impressive cumulative grade point average of 3.6363.
The CCS presented the Vikings with a team trophy and individual certificates for claiming the scholar-athlete award.
The Lynbrook girls' tennis team also finish strong in the fall competition. The Vikes wrapped up the season with a 3.6060 cumulative GPA to finish sixth in the CCS.
Fremont ended up third in both girls' field hockey at 3.4550 and girls' tennis at 3.7188
Homestead was fourth in girls' field hockey at 3.4509.
