    League Signups

    Local Little Leagues are currently holding registration for the upcoming baseball season. Players ages 5-12 are eligible, with divisions ranging from T-ball (for those youngsters who reach age 5 by July 31) to the major division (for those players not older than 12).

    Leagues in Cupertino and Sunnyvale also offer upper division age groups, including the junior division (13-14), senior division (15-16) and Big League (17-18). Girls softball is also offered by leagues in Cupertino and Sunnyvale.

    At registrations, players must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, provide a birth certificate and reside within league boundaries. Proof of residency may be required.

    Local leagues holding signups this month include:

    Sunnyvale Metro Little League--Sign-ups for players to age 18 for baseball and softball will be held Wednesdays, Jan. 9 and 16, 6-8 p.m., at the Raynor Park Rec Building, 1565 Quail Ave.; and Saturday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m -2 p.m. at Ortega Park.     Sunnyvale National Little League--Sign-ups for players to age 18 for baseball and softball will be held Saturdays, through Jan. 26, 9 a.m.-noon at the Washington Park Rec Building (Jan. 12 at the stadium), and Wednesdays, through Jan. 30, 6-8 p.m. at the Senior Center, Washington and McKinley avenues.     Serra Little League (includes southern Sunnyvale, northern Cupertino and southeastern Los Altos)--Sign-ups for players to age 16 will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, 6-9 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 12, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Serra Park Rec Building, 730 The Dalles.     Sunnyvale Southern Little League--Sign-ups for players to age 18 for baseball and softball will be held Saturdays, through Jan. 26, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the DeAnza Park Rec Building, and Wednesday, Jan. 9, 6-8 p.m., at the Cherry Chase Round Table Pizza Parlor.
