Sunnyvale Who's Who

Sunnyvale resident Jonathon Fletcher, a student at Azusa Pacific University, has been selected for the 1996 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Fletcher, who graduated from Homestead High School in 1991, was chosen for his academic achievement, community service, leadership, extracurricular activities and potential for success.

Local residents enroll in engineering program

Sunnyvale residents Alisa Costa, Aristotle Teves and Ted Valis have enrolled in the Santa Clara ITT Technical Institute's electronics engineering technology program. The eight-quarter program, designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in electronics engineering, began Dec. 4. ITT is located at the Lake Marriott Business Center, 5104 Old Ironsides Drive, Suite 113, Santa Clara.

Chancellor takes helm at De Anza College

On Feb. 8, Leo E. Chavez, chancellor of the Foothill-DeAnza Community College District, will be formally inaugurated as the fourth chancellor of the district in 40 years. Chavez earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, El Paso and his master's and doctorate from the University of Michigan in history. Daniel J. Boorstin, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and librarian of Congress emeritus, will be the guest speaker at the event. The inauguration will be held at 2 p.m in Foothill College's Robert C. Smithwick Theater.
