    Hot Stove Banquet returns for 17th year

    Pat Burrell of the Philadelphia Phillies and Rick Helling of the Texas Rangers will be the featured guests when the 17th annual Hot Stove Banquet returns to the Santa Clara Valley on Feb. 6.

    John Shrader of KNBR-68 will serve as master of ceremonies for the Santa Clara County Baseball Fundraisers event that will begin with no-host cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the banquet to follow at the San Jose Elks Club.

    Bob Arum, chairman of the board for Top Rank Inc., will be the evening's special guest.

    Tickets are $35 per person and $350 for a table of 10 ($300 per table of 10 for youth, high school, community college and college baseball groups). Call 408.446.3443.

    Pony Baseball

    The Sunnyvale-Cupertino Pony Baseball organization is now holding registration for the 2001 season for players ages 13-18. Players ages 13-14 play in the Pony division with those 15-16 playing Colt league baseball and those 17-18 playing in the Palomino division.

    Metro Little League

    The Sunnyvale Metro Little League will hold signups for the 2001 season for players to age 12 on Jan. 17, 7-9 p.m., at Ponderosa Park; and Jan. 20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Ortega Park.

    Southern Little League

    The Sunnyvale Southern Little League will hold signups for the 2001 season for players to age 16 on Saturdays, through Jan. 27, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, at the De Anza Park Rec Building (off Ticonderoga).

    National Little League

    The Sunnyvale National Little League will hold signups for the 2001 season for players to age 16 on Saturdays, through Jan. 27, from 9-2 p.m. each day, and Wednesdays, through Jan. 31, 6-9 p.m. each day, at the Sunnyvale Senior Center, McKinley and Pastoria.Call Robert Rodriguez at 408.732.5021.
