    Roberts decision by next week

David Howe, with the District Attorney's Office, says a decision whether to charge Councilmember Jim Roberts for allegedly hitting a taxi driver, refusing to pay a fare, and being publicly drunk will be made by January 31. "The matter is still under review," Howe says.

Reportedly, no witnesses saw the alleged altercation between Roberts and cab driver Surjit Singh on the night of Dec. 16.

    Volunteers needed

The Sunnyvale School District Foundation Board is looking for new members. The Foundation Board consists of community members raising funds to improve education in the Sunnyvale School District. Call Myrna Klokow at738-8708 for more details.

    Learn the risks

The city's Water Pollution Control plant will hold a public meeting on Monday, January 24 to explain the plant's risk management plan and to discuss why the plant uses certain chemicals and how it handles them. The plant uses chlorine and sulfur dioxide in its treatment of water. Located at 1444 Borregas Avenue, the water plant has, according to the city, been operating for 25 years without a major incident, but new laws require them to hold a public meeting. The meeting will be held Jan. 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Community Center's Neighborhood Room. The center is located at 550 E. Remington Avenue. Call 736-7620 for more details.
