Public Safety

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

Theft--Jan. 9, 4:05 p.m. W. Washington Avenue. After using pliers to remove security devices from clothes inside Macy's department store, a 31-year-old woman was arrested for attempting to steal $522 worth of merchandise.

Embezzlement--Jan. 8, 3:13 p.m. 700 Lakeway. A 39-year-old female employee of Mathew and Clark Communications was arrested for embezzling $9,100 in cash from the company. She has been accused of skimming from the company accounts since November.

Hit and Run--Jan. 12, 8:12 p.m. 1000 block of W. El Camino Real. A 77-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle near the parking lot of Pezzella's restaurant. The woman was taken to Stanford Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition. The driver of the car remains unknown. Any person with information is urged to call the Sunnyvale Traffic Unit at 730-7109.

Possession--Jan. 10, 1:58 a.m. Grape Avenue at El Camino Real. A driver pulled over for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol was found to be carrying a small amount of cocaine.

Drag Racing--Jan. 10, 1:30 a.m. Orleans Drive at Moffett Park. Two persons were cited for drag racing.
