Lamson's trial date set aside

After a pretrial hearing Jan. 14 for alleged sex offender Jeff Lamson, Assistant District Attorney Deborah Baldocchi said Lamson's trial date has been vacated, or set aside. No new date has been set for Lamson's trial, but a date of motion--where both sides discuss specific points in the case--has been set for Feb. 18.

Lamson, the 33-year-old former Homestead High School football coach, is awaiting trial on charges he had sexual relations with two Homestead students. The first incident allegedly occurred with a 16-year-old student during the 1990-91 school year; the second with a 14-year-old student during the 1996-97 school year.

Lamson has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including 10 felony counts of penetration with a foreign object, two felony counts of oral copulation and one misdemeanor count of attempting to dissuade a witness from testifying.

If convicted, Lamson faces a maximum of eight years in prison.
