Lady Dons win two
Bernadette Suffle tossed in 31 points in two games to lead the De Anza Community College women's basketball team to back-to-back wins in Coast Conference play last week.
Suffle pitched in 15 points to lead the Dons to a 50-29 win over the College of San Mateo, and she came back with 16 points in a 64-31 victory over Gavilan.
Suffle had a three-pointer among her six field goals in the win over the Bulldogs to open the week. Shana Buchanan added eight points for the Lady Dons, Jaymie Woodard had seven and Jane Riley (Westmont) added six. Kam Simpson, Leslie Brown and Jenny Miller (Prospect) chipped in with four points each and Jennifer Faiaipau hit two.
The Dons, 7-0 in conference play and 22-5 for the year, came back with an easy win over Gavilan. J. Miller led De Anza with 17 points and Suffle was close behind with 16. Miller canned a pair of three-pointers and Suffle buried four.
De Anza men split
The De Anza Community College men's basketball team split a pair of decisions last week. The Dons edged Ohlone 80-79, but lost a tough 74-69 decision to Cañada.
Harold Bordenave pumped in 28 points and David Newberg (Westmont) tossed in 25 to lead the Dons to the tight win over the Renegades to open the week. Nick Glover joined the two in double figures with 10 points.
Newberg tossed in four three-pointers and finished with 20 points, but the Dons lost to the Colts by five points on Friday. Bordenave supported with 15 points in the loss.
Aaron Zaballos hit a pair of threes on his way to 11 points and Mike O'Neal tossed in 10 points.
