    Candidates debate on Jan. 31

    The Assembly candidates for the 22nd District will debate on environmental issues on Jan. 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sunnyvale City Council chambers located at 456 W. Olive Ave. The event is sponsored by the San Jose State University Environmental Studies Department, California League of Conservation Voters, Sustainable Mountain View, Pacific Industrial Business Association, Silicon Valley Bicycle Association and the Sierra Club.     Sunnyvale holds Evening of Cultural Arts

    The city of Sunnyvale will hold performances of artists for the Evening of Cultural Arts Series 2002. On Feb. 8 and 9 at 8 p.m. Ramon Romero, master harpist, from Paraguay and Raphael (Fucho) Aparicio, master of the cuatro and maracas, from Venezuela, will join their musical talents in presenting a show called Cuerdas de Fuego--Strings of Fire, South American folk music.

    Tickets are $20 general admission, $18 seniors and students. The Sunnyvale Community Center Theater is located at 550 E. Remington Drive. For tickets, call the box office at 408.733.6611.
