Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.
Trespassing--Jan. 15, 8:37 p.m., 600 block of E. Maude Avenue. The suspect was causing a disturbance inside the establishment at the above location. She was arguing with the staff members and was asked to leave. But she refused to go. Staff members requested a citizen's arrest. The suspect was arrested, booked and transported to county jail.
Malicious Mischief--Jan. 15, 7:53 a.m., 700 block of San Miguel Road. The unknown suspect(s), using black spray paint, painted a hardball court. This occurred sometime on the morning of Jan. 14 or 15 before school opened. The court is behind the school and at the south end of the playground.
Possession of Controlled Substance--Jan. 15, 10 p.m., 700 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. While on a traffic stop for expired registration, an investigative search of the vehicle revealed the possession of a controlled substance and burglary tools. The suspect was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglary tools.
Possession of Controlled Substance--Jan. 14, 4:25 a.m., 1000 block of Crow Court. An officer was dispatched to the above location regarding a white male adult suspect who was reported by his parents as "going crazy." Upon arrival, the officer contacted the suspect and arrested him for possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence and possession of hypodermic syringes.
Vandalism--City Property--Jan. 20, 5:21 p.m., 600 block of Harrow Way. The unknown suspect(s) entered a park at the above location and turned over several garbage cans. Trash was left on the ground in the picnic area. A plastic garbage can was burned and destroyed. No other apparent lasting damage was found.
Residential Burglary--Jan. 20, 1:20 a.m., 1100 block of Ayala Avenue. On Jan. 19, between 10:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., the suspect(s) took a PlayStation worth $200, one game worth $60 and one Sony Equalizer worth $700. The suspect(s) left the scene in an unknown direction.
Commercial Burglary--Jan. 20, 2:49 p.m., 900 block of Hamlin Court. The unknown suspect(s) entered a maintenance room and stole two floor buffers worth $4,000 each, placed the buffers in a vehicle and fled the scene.
Petty Theft--Jan. 20, 5:23 p.m., 1000 block of Arques Avenue. Suspect entered the store and removed some merchandise from the shelf. He opened the merchandise packaging and placed the items in his pocket. He left the store without paying for the items. Suspect was stopped outside the store and taken into custody by the store's loss prevention officer.
