    Speaker to touch on Alzheimer's services

    Steven Pulin, manager of the Sunrise Retirement Residence, will speak on the facility's services for seniors, with a special emphasis on memory loss and Alzheimer's disease. The Sunrise facility is under construction.

    The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Sunnyvale Senior Center, Rooms 201 and 202. The event is coordinated by the center's Coordinating Council.

    Tax assistance available at seniors' request

    Income tax preparation assistance for seniors will be available Tuesdays and Fridays through April 14 at the Sunnyvale Senior Center. The free service is provided to those 60 years and older who have a low to moderate income. Call 408.730.7360 to schedule an appointment.

    Center plays host to Valentine's dance

    The Sunnyvale Senior Center will play host to a "Swinging Valentine's Day" dance, Monday, Feb. 14 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Music will be provided courtesy of the Sound Wizards. Couples and singles are welcome. The center will provide complimentary Valentine pictures and refreshments. The cost is $4 for seniors and guests.

    Seniors invited to Big Band bash

    Seniors are invited to enjoy dancing and listening to live Big Band music Feb. 9 and 23 and March 8 and 22 at the Sunnyvale Senior Center. All adults 50-years and older are invited. Admission is $4, and refreshments are provided.

    Spring fashion and tea on slate for Spring

    The Sunnyvale Senior Center will present afternoon tea and a Spring Fashion Show Saturday, Feb. 26 in Room 601. The event begins with lunch at noon, followed by fashions presented by Koret of California of the Gilroy Outlets.

    Tickets are $8 and are available at the center.

    Good Samaritan Hospital welcomes Senior Friends

    Columbia Good Samaritan Hospital encourages all interested local senior citizens to join its chapter of the National Association of Senior Friends, a nonprofit hospital-based health and wellness program open to anyone 50 and older.

    The seniors in Good Samaritan's growing group take part in numerous activities, outings and informational programs.

    Seniors in Stride is an ongoing class offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Good Sam's Cardiac Rehabilitation Department.

    Other Senior Friends' activities include movies, theater performances, health screenings, cooking classes, day trips and several-day tours.
