The Homestead boys soccer team upped its record to 4-2-4 in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League with a tight 2-1 win over Saratoga last week.

Samuel Krow-Local knocked in a first-half goal off an assist from Brian Oliveira, and Justin Bocchini came through with the game winning goal when he scored off a Brian Maihack assist.

The Homestead girls came through with a win and a tie, but also lost a tough decision in De Anza Division play. The Mustangs are 6-4-2 in the division and 9-5-4 overall.

Laura Phan scored a first-half goal, and that stood up for a 1-0 Homestead win over Los Altos to open the week.

After a tough 1-0 loss to unbeaten Palo Alto, Homestead fought back for a 1-1 tie against Saratoga. Diana Blasquez scored a first-half goal off a Dana Muhlrelder assist to give the Mustangs the lead, but the Falcons tied the game in the second half.

In El Camino Division play, Fremont pushed its record to 6-1-3 in league with a 1-1 tie against Wilcox. Fernando Tula scored a second-half goal off a Marcos Valdivias assist to help the Firebirds clinch the tie.

The Fremont girls, meanwhile, lost their only game last week, falling 4-1 to Wilcox. Amy Telles scored the lone goal for the Lady Birds.

Fremont slipped to 0-10 in the El Camino Division with the loss.

In other local action, the King's Academy lost twice last week, falling 2-1 to Mercy of San Francisco and 2-0 to Woodside Priory. The Knights are now 1-6-1 in the Private Schools.
