The Sunnyvale National Little League will host tryouts on Feb. 10 at Washington Park for its major and junior divisions.
The major tryouts will be held at 8:30 p.m. for 8-year-olds, 9:50 a.m. for 9-year-olds, 11:05 a.m. for 10-year-olds and 12:30 p.m. for 11- and 12-year-olds.
Tryouts for junior division players (13-year-olds) will be held on Feb. 10 and 24.

Schell stars
Bill Schell of De Anza Cupertino Aquatics won the 50-meter freestyle and was second in the 100 free at the 1996 United States Swimming Grand Prix Meet in Seattle, Jan. 12-14.
Schell, an All-American at Stanford University, posted Olympic Trials qualifying times in both events at the Grand Prix Meet. The Stanford grad has decided to put off medical school at the University of North Carolina to make an Olympic bid. The Olympic Team Selection Meet will be held in Indianapolis, in March.
Justin Nicholas also placed for De Anza Cupertino Aquatics at the Grand Prix Meet. His fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke earned him a spot in the United States Swimming National championships.
Soccer players
The De Anza Blue Heat is looking for players for under-13 select and under-14 development teams for the spring season. Players are needed for all positions, and player evaluations will be held Feb. 10, 17 and 24, 10-11:30 a.m., at Jollyman Park in Cupertino.

Youth baseball signups
The Youth Baseball Athletic League is holding signups for youngsters ages 4-10 interested in playing baseball in a non-competitive environment.
The league features a midget division, coed t-ball for 4-5 year olds; a junior division, coaches pitching to 6-7 year olds; and a sandlot division, traditional style baseball for 8-10 year olds.
Games are played on Saturdays, and the season runs from April to June. For more information, call 1-415-856-YBAL.
