    Pony Baseball

    The Lakewood Pony Baseball League will hold sign-ups for players ages 5-13 Feb. 16 and 23, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Lakewood Rec Room. The league is also looking for managers and umpires. For more information, call Brenda Castillo at 408.745.7274.

    Coaches Needed

    The Sunnyvale-Cupertino Peninsula Pop Warner youth football organization is currently accepting applications from those interested in coaching positions for the 2002 season. The registration deadline is Feb. 15.

    Interested football coaches should call 408.739.7073 for information, and those interested in coaching cheerleaders should call 408.745.1903.

    The organization also has openings on the board for a concessions manager and an athletic director. For information, call Dolf Placencia at 408.737.9972.

    Adult Sports

    Sunnyvale will offer spring adult leagues for volleyball and softball.

    Volleyball leagues will be offered on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. The cost is $275 for the season.

    Sunnyvale will also offer coed and men's softball this spring. There will be a coed softball league on Fridays and men's leagues on Wednesday, Thursday and Sundays. The cost for the eight-week season is $390.

    The registration deadline for each sport is March 7, and the fees will include an additional $10 for each non-resident. For more information, call Gary Brown at 408.730.7334.

    Asthma athletic scholarships

    The annual "Will to Win" Asthma Athlete Scholarships will return this year, offering $100,000 in scholarships to 11 high school seniors "who have excelled in athletics in spite of the challenge of asthma."

    Information on the national scholarship program is available at www.thewilltowin.org or by phone at 800.558.7305. The deadline for entries is April 30, 2002, and winners will be notified by June 2002.
