Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department
Burglary/Storage Locker--Feb. 13, 7:39 p.m., 1000 block of Stewart Drive. Victim returned to his rental storage locker and found a different lock on his locker. When the lock was removed, he found his belongings missing. Losses totaled $880.
Vandalism--Feb. 10, 10:30 a.m., 600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue. Suspect was angry because the victim was honking her car horn. Suspect confronted the victim and hit the door of her vehicle with his fist, causing $200 of damage.
Speed Contest--Feb. 9, 11:54 p.m., 1200-1300 block of Lawrence Expressway. Suspects were racing side by side in their respective vehicles, northbound on Lawrence Expressway from Duane Avenue to the northbound off-ramp of Highway 101. Both were traveling at speeds in excess of the 50-mph posted speed limit. The officer was able to stop both suspects. They were arrested, transported to headquarters, booked and later released on citations. Their vehicles were impounded for 30 days.
Burglary/Residential--Feb. 8, 6:38 p.m., 1300 block of Kingfisher Way. Unknown suspect pried open the deadbolt lock at victim's residence. Suspect entered the apartment and stole a brown wooden jewelry box, eight gold rings with assorted gems, four silver rings with assorted gems and two pairs of gold hoop earrings. Losses totaled $4,780.
Burglary/Residential--Feb. 6, 12:38 a.m., 300 block of Orchard Avenue. Suspect gained access to residence and took two safes with contents and a bag. Losses totaled $1,190.
Vicious Animals--Jan. 30, 12:07 a.m., 1200 block of Gainsborough Drive. A cat belonging to resident on 1200 block of Gainsborough Drive was killed in front of a house on same block. Two suspect dogs were located on 1100 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Suspect has confined his dogs in a more secure manner.
Grand Theft/Jewelry--Jan. 22, 6:30 p.m., 1200 block of Tasman Drive. Victim placed her one-quarter carat diamond wedding ring with a 24 karat gold band "starburst" in a jewelry box located in the hall bathroom. Later that day, suspect visited the residence and was seen entering the hall bathroom. After using the bathroom, suspect left the residence quickly. Victim discovered the ring missing 22 days later. During that time there were no visitors in the residence and occupants been unable to locate the ring.
