    Reaction to vote appalling, sad

I am writing in response to the article about the Emergency Housing Consortium that appeared in your Feb.16 newspaper. I was appalled at the reaction of the neighborhood property owners. I have worked with the EHC and know that their approach to housing has proven to be a success. They improve the neighborhoods that they have moved into, carefully screen the perspective tenants and have on-site property management. This is more often than not the case with traditional apartment rentals.

There is a desperate need for low income and transitional housing here in the Silicon Valley, and EHC's track record in performing this service has been excellent. I would welcome them into my own neighborhood.
