    Home Maintenance and Repair Workshop

    The Sunnyvale Public Library will host Owen Whetzel on March 10, at 11 a.m. for a program on home maintenance and repair. Whetzel has earned an outstanding reputation as an expert among professionals and the public in his writing and lectures about building, remodeling, home maintenance, woodworking and home improvement projects.     55 Alive Mature Driving

    The Sunrise of Sunnyvale will host a 55 Alive mature driving course on March 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Senior Center. Cost for the program is $10. For more information, call 408.730.7360.

    De Anza College 22nd Annual Antique Show

    De Anza College will host the 22nd annual Antiques Show to benefit disabled students on March 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and March 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show includes two showrooms of antiques that feature a wide selection of merchandise from the Victorian era through the 1960s.     Nova Vista Symphony Orchestra Concert

    The Nova Vista Symphony Orchestra will perform on March 10, at 8 p.m. at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Ave, Los Altos Hills. The performance, sponsored by the city of Sunnyvale Department of Parks and Recreation and the Arts Council of Santa Clara County, will feature the Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1, performed by San Francisco pianist Robert Schwartz. The concert will also include works by Moncayo, Franck, Gershwin and Mozart. Tickets for the performance are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.     Friends of the Sunnyvale Library Winter Book Sale

    The Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library will hold their winter book sale on March 10, at the Raynor Community Center, 1500 Partridge Ave, Sunnyvale. The sale opens to members of the Friends at 9 a.m. and to the public at 10 a.m., and will be open until 4 p.m. Bargain bag hours are from 2:30 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 408.732.7242.

    Sunnyval Senior Center Arthritis Lecture

    The Sunnyvale Senior Center will host an arthritis lecture on March 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the free lecture featuring information about arthritis and rheumatic disease, pain management techniques, medications and appropriate exercises for improving strength and flexibility.     Center holds 'Swing and Sway Senior' dance party

    The Sunnyvale Senior Center will hold a senior dance on March 14, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Senior Center, 820 W. McKinley Ave. The dance, part of the regular dances held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, will feature music by the Nob Hill Sounds. Cost is $4 per person for members, $5 per person for nonmembers. Refreshments will be served, and no partner is necessary. For more information, call 408.730.7360.

    Church houses Our Daily Bread 18th Anniversary

    Our Daily Bread, an outreach program of St. Thomas Episcopal Church that serves hot meals to hundreds of people daily, will hold its 18th anniversary dinner on March 10, at 6 p.m. in Cowans Hall at St. Thomas Church in Sunnyvale.

    During the event, Our Daily Bread hopes to announce the results of its campaign to raise funds for a new kitchen, and will present its annual Bread Loaf Award to a representative volunteer. The award is made to someone who symbolizes the commitment of the more than 100 volunteers.

    The dinner will also feature a gourmet meal prepared by Del Monte Grill in Sunnyvale, and a performance by the Choraliers of San Jose State University. A $10 donation is requested per ticket.
