Development gets green light
On Feb. 29, City Council approved plans for a large development on 26 acres in the Moffett Park area. Four four-story office buildings, a two-story fitness center, and three-level garage will be built by Jay Paul & Associates. The developer will also build a $2.5 million light rail station on the nearby Tasman Corridor light rail line. Ariba, a business-to-business e-commerce company, is set to occupy the high-tech campus located in the booming north Sunnyvale region. Council voiced concerns about the traffic impact of the dense development, but voted unanimously to okay it.
Council meeting not scheduled
City Council will not meet the week of March 13 as members will be attending the National League of Cities Conference in Washington, D.C. According to city spokesperson Dan Rich, the annual meeting is a change for council members to meet with peers, study different issues, and lobby national politicians. The councilmembers will be meeting with a variety of national representatives over the four day conference. Rich and city manager Bob LaSala will also be attending.
