Group will rate quality of life
City Council chose eight community representatives to serve on a task force that will evaluate the overall quality of life in Sunnyvale.
The city established the task force to draw from a wider range of people determining what it's like to live in Sunnyvale. Councilmember Jim Roberts said that the members were chosen to reflect the community as a whole, citing a range of business, gender, and interest perspectives.
According to Roberts, the task force will meet four to six times before June, when members will make a recommendation to the council that will be incorporated into the city's Quality of Life/Municipal Performance Index.
Teen services suggestions
Sunnyvale Teen Services presented options on expanding its offerings at a City Councils study session last week. The proposal included four program suggestions and two special projects--construction of a skateboard facility and an indoor climbing wall.
Possible programs include creating a resource guide for teens and their families, offering middle-school after-school programs and continuing the Saturday night teen programs. Teen Services also suggested securing funding that will allow for appropriate programming as teens interests and needs shift.
