Jags keep winning
The San Jose City College women's basketball team remained very much alive in the state community college tournament with a pair of wins last week.
The Jaguars crushed the College of the Sequoias 73-38, then came back with a tight 57-55 win over Solano in the third round of the tournament.
Liz Coughran (Los Gatos) poured in 17 points and Courtney Keegan pitched in 15 to lead the Jags to the easy win over COS. Brianne Prescott added 14 points in the win, and Brie Ahern (Homestead) joined the others in double digits with 13 points.
Ahern had the hot hand a couple of nights later, burying five three-pointers among her six field goals to pour in 17 points in the two-point victory over Solano. Keegan added 13 points, including three threes. Kristie Reed tossed in 11 points for the winners, Coughran and Kim McCoy had five apiece and Gina Paradiso (Cupertino), Prescott and Tami Monson each hit a bucket.
The Jaguars improved to 28-6 for the year with the two wins.
