Public Safety

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Cruelty--March 5, 12:38 p.m. A woman was arrested on the 1000 block of W. El Camino Real for felony child cruelty and misdemeanor counts of petty theft and resisting arrest.

Commercial Burglary--March 3, between 10:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Sunnyvale police officers responded to a theft-in-progress call from the Fry's Electronics store on 1177 Kern Ave. Loss-prevention officers from the store had two suspects in custody when officers arrived. The men were seen removing a video spinner from a box and putting it inside a toolbox. One suspect left with the toolbox, and the other put the empty box back on the shelf and taped it closed. The first suspect had allegedly picked up a toolbox that was in the store and filled it with computer equipment. He then emptied a box containing a video spinner and put the toolbox inside. The second suspect then grabbed the box--now filled with expensive equipment--went to the register and paid for what should have been a video spinner. Upon leaving the store, the men were arrested. They were detained outside the store at their car, in which two other boxes of computer equipment were found. The men were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Spousal abuse--March 4, 1:56 a.m. Officers responded to a domestic dispute on the 1700 block of Noranda Drive and arrested a man for felony spousal abuse. He was taken to Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Possession--March 4, 9:00 a.m. A transient male was found to be in possession of hypodermic needles. He was cited and released.
