    Golfers win title

    The Sunnyvale team of Mel White, Bryan Othon, Basim Asu-Hamid and Gregory Smart won the title in the 10th annual Northern California Firefighter's Golf Championship held Feb. 21 at Silverado Country Club.

    Sunnyvale and San Jose tied at 2-under par in regulation in the 4-person-best ball, scratch tournament, but Sunnyvale won the tournament title on the first hole of sudden death.

    San Jose finished second in the tournament with Modesto third. Both teams were two-time champions in the event. This was Sunnyvale's first championship.

    There were 31 teams competing on the South Course at Silverado, set up to championship length and difficulty.

    Adult sports

    The city of Sunnyvale is currently holding registration for its adult basketball, softball and volleyball programs.

    The cost is $560 for the 10-game spring basketball league, $380 for the seven-week softball season and $250 for the eight-match volleyball campaign. Each entry fee includes any playoff games, and there is a $10 fee charged for each non-resident.

    Sunnyvale AYSO

    The Sunnyvale AYSO will hold spring soccer registration March 31, noon-5 p.m., at the Ortega Park Building. The cost is $40 per player. For more information, call 408.739.AYSO or visit www.ayso44.org.

    Sunnyvale Alliance

    The Sunnyvale Alliance soccer organization is forming under-6 through under-12 boys and girls teams for the CYSA spring season that runs April 7-June 9. For more information, call 408.733.5425.

    Colt League baseball

    The Sunnyvale-Cupertino Colt League is currently holding registration for players ages 15-16. Tryouts will be held April 28, 9 a.m., at Ortega Park. For more information, call 408.245.7669.
