    Jags fall in semis

A sensational 1998-99 season came to an end for the San Jose City College women's basketball team, but not until the Lady Jaguars had reached the semifinals of the state community college tournament.

The Jags knocked off Irvine Valley 75-67 in the quarterfinals before losing 66-47 to Sierra College in the semis.

San Jose, 29-7 for the year, advanced to the semifinals with the eight-point win over Irvine Valley. Brie Ahern (Homestead) buried six three-pointers to finish with 18 points for the Jags and Sue Reed tossed in 16 points in the win.

Courtney Keegan pitched in 15 points, including a pair of threes, and Brianne Prescott added 13 points, including three three-pointers.

Gina Paradiso (Cupertino) popped a team-high 14 points, but the Jaguars lost to Sierra in the semifinals. Prescott finished in double digits with 10 points, Reed and Keegan added eight apiece and Liz Coughran (Los Gatos) four.
