Commission seeks longtime residents
The Sunnyvale Heritage Preservation Commission wants to talk to you if you are a longtime resident of Sunnyvale and have seen the city develop and grow.
The search is part of a project by the commission to chronicle the history of the city for future generations.
At a March 12 meeting, the commissioners said they are in the process of developing questions and hope to line up interviewees soon.
The commissioners want to get in touch with people who could shed light on the industrial, political and agricultural development of the city.
The city's Community Development Department plans to apply for grants from the state's Office of Historic Preservation for the project, said Gerri Langtry, a city planner.
The city has about $3,000 for the project so far.
The commission plans to buy recording equipment for the undertaking. Members also discussed hiring students from Santa Clara University or San Jose State University to collect data.
