St. Thomas Episcopal Church's outreach program helps nourish the hungry

The Lord's Prayer says, "Give us this day our daily bread ..." And giving the hungry daily bread and other food is exactly what volunteers in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church outreach program--called "Our Daily Bread"--have done for the past 19 years. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., volunteers at Our Daily Bread serve hot meals to hungry people in the community. One thing that makes the program unique is that diners are actually served at their tables, instead of being handed a meal at a window, says board member and volunteer Cary Orr-Kissner. Although this kind of service requires more organization and volunteer support, it is worth it, she says.   More
